Sensei Leszek attended a Sambo seminar that focussed on leg locks. Sambo is a Russian martial art that includes stand-up fighting, take downs and grappling. Vik Hothi is an excellent teacher who explains techniques in scientific way, making it clear and easy to understand. We hope that we will have more opportunities to train with Vik.

Our club took part in the first round of the Enshin Karate League - Kokoro Cup. Sensei Leszek fought four fights in the open division. 26-Oct-11: Shin Ai Do Karate Seminar with Sensei Artur Marchewka (Lightwater)
This Shin Ai Do seminar examined the bunkai of the kata Seienchin. It was a fun session with Sensei Artur's great sense of humour and astute approach to analysing techniques.
I think it's fair to say that our brains and coordination got a good workout from this seminar and it was a great opportunity to think more about the many applications of this kata.
25-Jun-11: Idokan Seminar (18-Jun-11, Greece)
From the 18th to the 21st of June Idokan Europa held an international seminar. These seminars are run every two years and this year was held in Greece. The first two days of training were in Athens and the last two days were on a beautiful (if not slightly hot!) beach in Amarinthos on the island of Evia.
This seminar saw a large variety of instructors from a range of different styles teaching in an exciting and fun manner. It was great to be able to practice styles both similar and different to Shin Ai Do and to meet other students who were all friendly and willing to help others. Please see the Gallery for photos.
We are very grateful to be able to attend such an enjoyable event and hope to be able to do so again soon. Many thanks to Shihan Dietmar, Sensei Eleni and Sensei Sarantis for organising a great seminar and thanks to all of the instructors that had the patience to teach us :)
17-Apr-11: Kanku Dai Seminar with Iain Abernethy (10-Apr-11, Swindon)
On the 10th of April we attended a seminar at Swindon with Sensei Iain Abernethy. It covered the practice of bunkai (the application or dissection of techniques) and drills taken from the kata Kanku Dai (sometimes referred to as Kushanku in other styles). We found it to be an interesting and insightful seminar. Iain’s style of teaching was informal and intriguing. He is a leading exponent of applied Karate and his understanding of not only the techniques but their historical development was fascinating. Overall we had a great time and were enthralled from the beginning to the end of the session. Many thanks to Sensei Iain and Sensei Andi Kidd for organising this seminar.
